Paradise (Jannah)
Gardens beneath which rivers flow
Rivers of water (never stagnating), milk (never spoiling), wine (delicious, not intoxicating), and honey (purified) — pure and unchanging.
47:15
Eternal dwellings
«Gardens of perpetual residence which they enter, beneath which rivers flow — they have whatever they wish therein.»
98:8
Couches and silk
They recline on lined couches, wearing silk and brocade, spouses shaded in shade — neither too hot nor too cold.
55:54, 56:12–14
No sickness, grief, or death
«No fatigue touches them, nor are they removed from it.» «They will not hear therein ill speech or falsehood — only «salām, salām.»
15:48, 56:25–26
The vision of Allah
The greatest reward — «Faces that day will be radiant, looking at their Lord.» The believers see Allah, a joy beyond all other joys.
75:22–23
The last entrance
«Allah will say: Enter Paradise; whoever among you does a good deed equal to an atom's weight will see it.»
99:7
Brick of gold and silver
«Its bricks are of gold and silver, its mortar is musk, its pebbles are pearls and rubies, its soil is saffron.»
Aḥmad, Tirmidhī
Meeting the prophets
The believer will meet the prophets, the martyrs, and the righteous — gathering with loved ones in eternal bliss.
Bukhārī & Muslim
The Fire (Jahannam)
The crushing fire
A fire whose fuel is people and stones, prepared for the disbelievers. It was kindled for a thousand years until it reddened, then white, then black.
2:24, 104:4–6
Depths and chains
«For it is a prison, then a crushing.» Chains and yokes of long extent bind those who rejected the truth.
73:12–13
Boiling water
They are given boiling water to drink which tears their bowels — a torment that compounds upon torment.
22:19–21
Regret and pleading
They say, «If only we had obeyed Allah and the Messenger!» and ask to return to the world to do good — it is denied.
33:66–67
Flames and sparks
Sparks the size of fortresses, as yellow as camels — flying like arrows against the doomed.
77:32–33
Final judgment for the believer
«Then Allah will judge with justice. Whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it» — the believer may be punished for sins, then enters Paradise.
99:8
The lightest punishment
«The lightest punishment on the Day of Judgement is for a man under whose feet two coals are placed, boiling his brain» — and he thinks himself the most punished.
Bukhārī & Muslim
The depth
A stone thrown from the top of the Fire would fall for seventy years before reaching its bottom — vast beyond measure.
