Supplications by situation

Entering the home

O Allah, I ask You for the best of entering and the best of leaving. In the name of Allah we enter and in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we rely.

Abū Dāwūd

Leaving the home

In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah; there is no power and no strength except with Allah.

Abū Dāwūd, Tirmidhī

Entering the mosque

O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy.

Muslim

Leaving the mosque

O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty.

Muslim

Before travel

O Allah, we ask You in this journey for righteousness and piety, and deeds that please You.

Muslim

Boarding a vehicle

Glory to Him who subdued this for us; we could not have done it alone — and to our Lord we return.

43:13–14, Abū Dāwūd

When anxious

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, inability and laziness, stinginess and cowardice, the burden of debt, and the domination of men.

Bukhārī

When in debt

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful against Your unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty beyond anyone but You.

Tirmidhī

When angry

I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shayṭān — anger is from Shayṭān, and Shayṭān runs from the mention of Allah.

Bukhārī & Muslim

When visiting the sick

O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the harm and heal — You are the Healer; there is no healing except Yours.

Bukhārī & Muslim

When it rains

O Allah, make it a beneficial rain.

Bukhārī

After rain

We have been given rain by the favor and mercy of Allah.

Bukhārī

When seeing the new moon

O Allah, let it rise over us in security, faith, safety and Islam.

Tirmidhī

When looking in the mirror

O Allah, as You have made my form beautiful, make my character beautiful.

Aḥmad

When wearing new clothes

Praise be to Allah who clothed me. I ask You for its good and the good for which it was made, and I seek refuge in You from its evil.

Abū Dāwūd, Tirmidhī

When something is lost or difficult

O Allah, nothing is easy except what You make easy — and You can make the difficult easy if You will.
