The Five Pillars of Islam
Discover the five foundational acts of worship every Muslim practices.
Learn the five pillars of Islam and understand their importance in a Muslim's life.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Islam is built upon five pillars.' These are the foundation of our faith: 1) Shahadah — declaring that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger. 2) Salah — praying five times a day. 3) Zakat — giving charity to the poor. 4) Sawm — fasting during Ramadan. 5) Hajj — pilgrimage to Mecca for those who are able. Just as a building needs pillars to stand strong, our faith needs these five practices to remain strong. Each pillar connects us to Allah in a special way.
