The Story of the Ka'bah - Allah's Holy House
Learn about the Ka'bah, the holiest place in Islam, built by Ibrahim and Ismail.
The Ka'bah is the holiest place in Islam! It is in the city of Makkah. The Ka'bah was first built by Prophet Adam (AS), but over time it was damaged. Then Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his son Prophet Ismail (AS) rebuilt it by Allah's command. Allah says in the Quran: And [mention] when Ibrahim was raising the foundations of the House and [with him] Ismail. The Ka'bah is a black cube-shaped building. When Muslims pray anywhere in the world, they face the Ka'bah. Every Muslim who can afford it must visit the Ka'bah at least once in their lifetime for Hajj. Millions of Muslims go to Makkah every year. The Ka'bah is also called Baitullah — the House of Allah. When we see the Ka'bah, we remember Allah and His greatness. The Ka'bah reminds us that all Muslims are one family, united in worshipping Allah alone.
