The Prophet's Love for Children

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ loved children very much! He always smiled when he saw them. He would hug them, kiss them, and play with them. Once, the Prophet ﷺ was kissing his grandson Hasan (RA). A man named Aqra ibn Habis saw this and said: I have ten children and I have never kissed any of them! The Prophet ﷺ looked at him and said: What can I do for you if Allah has taken mercy out of your heart? The Prophet ﷺ also let children ride on his back during prayer. When his granddaughter Umamah was small, he would carry her while praying. When he went into prostration, he would put her down, and when he stood up, he would pick her up again. The Prophet ﷺ said: I stand in prayer and I intend to make it long, but I hear the crying of a child, so I shorten it so his mother won't worry. This shows how kind and caring the Prophet ﷺ was!

وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا
Wa bil-walidayni ihsana
Translation: And to parents, good treatment.
Authentic Hadith
The Prophet ﷺ said: What can I do for you if Allah has taken mercy out of your heart? — said to a man who never kissed his children.
Explanation
This hadith shows the Prophet's deep love for children. He taught that showing mercy and affection to children is a sign of a heart that Allah has blessed with mercy.
