Nusayba bint Ka'b (RA) - The Warrior Woman of Uhud
Learn about Nusayba (RA), the female warrior who protected the Prophet ﷺ at Uhud.
Nusayba bint Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with her), also known as Umm Umarah, was one of the greatest female companions. She was a warrior, a mother, and a devoted believer. At the Battle of Uhud, when the Muslim army was scattered and the Prophet ﷺ was surrounded by enemies, Nusayba (RA) drew her sword and shield and fought fiercely to protect the Prophet. She sustained multiple wounds — her shoulder was deeply cut, and she was struck many times. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Wherever I turned, I saw Nusayba fighting.' She fought with extraordinary bravery, and the Prophet ﷺ prayed for her and her family, saying: 'O Allah, make them my companions in Paradise.' Nusayba (RA) also participated in the Pledge of Ridwan and was present at many battles. She lost her hand at the Battle of Yamamah while fighting the false prophet Musaylimah. Her sons were also brave warriors. Nusayba (RA) proved that in Islam, women can be warriors, scholars, and leaders. Her story challenges the misconception that women in Islam are weak or passive.

Man 'amila salihan min dhakarin aw untha wa huwa mu'minun fa-la-nuhyiyannahu hayatan tayyibah
