Mus'ab ibn Umayr (RA) - The First Ambassador of Islam
Learn about Mus'ab (RA), the young companion who sacrificed luxury for Islam.
Mus'ab ibn Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him) was a young man from a wealthy and noble family in Makkah. He was known for his fine clothes, perfumes, and elegant lifestyle. His parents loved him deeply and gave him everything. But when Mus'ab heard about Islam, he accepted it immediately. His mother was furious and imprisoned him, but he refused to give up his faith. The Prophet ﷺ sent Mus'ab as the first ambassador of Islam to Madinah (then called Yathrib). Mus'ab taught the people of Madinah about Islam, and many accepted Islam through his gentle and wise teaching. His success in Madinah paved the way for the Hijrah of the Prophet ﷺ. At the Battle of Uhud, Mus'ab (RA) was entrusted with carrying the Muslim flag. He fought bravely and was martyred. When the companions found his body, they saw that the fine young man who once wore the most expensive clothes was now shrouded in a rough garment so short that when they covered his head, his feet showed, and when they covered his feet, his head showed. The Prophet ﷺ wept and said: 'Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah.' Mus'ab (RA) gave up wealth, comfort, and his life for the sake of Allah.

Authentic Hadith
The Prophet ﷺ said about Mus'ab: 'I saw Mus'ab in Makkah, and there was no youth in Makkah more pampered by his parents than him. Then he left all of that for the sake of Allah.'
