Anas ibn Malik (RA) - The Prophet's Servant
Learn about Anas ibn Malik (RA), who served the Prophet ﷺ for ten years.
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) was a young boy when his mother, Umm Sulaym, brought him to the Prophet ﷺ and offered him as a servant. Anas served the Prophet ﷺ for ten years, from the age of ten to twenty. Despite being so close to the Prophet for a decade, Anas (RA) said: 'The Prophet never said 'Uff' to me, nor did he ever say: 'Why did you do that?' or 'Why didn't you do that?'' This shows the Prophet's extraordinary kindness and patience. Anas (RA) narrated over 2,000 hadiths — he was one of the most prolific narrators after Abu Hurayrah and Aisha. He lived a very long life — over 100 years — and was the last of the major companions to pass away. Anas (RA) was known for his generosity. He had a garden and would give its produce to the poor. The Prophet ﷺ had made a du'a for Anas: 'O Allah, increase his wealth and children, and prolong his life, and make him blessed wherever he is.' This du'a was fulfilled — Anas had over 100 children and grandchildren, vast wealth, and lived over a century. He was also known for his constant worship of Allah, especially fasting and prayer.
