Aisha bint Abu Bakr (RA) - The Scholar of Islam

Learn about Aisha (RA), the Prophet's wife and one of the greatest scholars of Islam.

Lesson & Story

Aisha bint Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) was the daughter of Abu Bakr (RA) and one of the Prophet's wives. She was known for her brilliant mind, sharp memory, and deep knowledge of Islam. Aisha (RA) narrated over 2,000 hadiths — more than any other female companion. The greatest companions, including Umar and Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, would consult her on religious matters. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Learn some of your religion from this Umm Abdullah (Aisha).' She was known for her eloquence — when asked about the Prophet's character, she said: 'His character was the Quran.' Aisha (RA) was also known for her generosity. Despite her vast knowledge, she lived simply and gave generously to the poor. She once gave away 70,000 dirhams while her own clothes were patched. After the Prophet's passing, Aisha (RA) became one of the greatest teachers of Islam. She taught both men and women and was consulted on the most complex legal and religious questions. She passed away in 678 CE, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge that continues to guide Muslims today.
