Prophet Ishaq (AS) - The Glad Tiding

Learn about Prophet Ishaq (AS), the son of Ibrahim, born as a miracle in old age.

Lesson & Story

Prophet Ishaq (peace be upon him) was the second son of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). His mother was Sarah. Allah gave Ibrahim and Sarah the glad tidings of Ishaq when they were very old — Ibrahim was about 100 years old and Sarah was 90. The angels came to Ibrahim with the news, and Sarah was amazed. Allah said: 'Are you amazed at the decree of Allah?' Ishaq (AS) was a righteous prophet who continued the message of his father Ibrahim. From Ishaq's lineage came many prophets, including his son Yaqub (AS) and grandson Yusuf (AS). Ishaq is mentioned in the Quran many times alongside Ibrahim and Yaqub. The Prophet ﷺ said that the best of people are those who are most beneficial to others, and Ishaq continued the legacy of his father Ibrahim in calling people to Allah.
