Lesson & Story

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (peace be upon him) was born in Makkah in the Year of the Elephant (570 CE). His father, Abdullah, died before he was born. His mother, Aminah, died when he was six years old. He was raised by his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, and then by his uncle, Abu Talib. Muhammad ﷺ grew up known for his honesty and trustworthiness. People called him 'Al-Amin' — the Trustworthy. He never lied, never cheated, and always kept his promises. He worked as a merchant and married Khadijah (RA), a noble and wealthy woman who was the first to believe in him. At the age of 40, Muhammad ﷺ received the first revelation from Allah through the angel Jibril in the Cave of Hira. The first words were: 'Read! In the name of your Lord who created.' (Surah Al-Alaq 96:1). This began his prophethood. For 13 years in Makkah, the Prophet ﷺ called people to worship Allah alone. But the Quraysh leaders opposed him fiercely. They tortured his followers and tried to stop his message. Despite persecution, the Prophet ﷺ remained patient and never gave up. In 622 CE, Allah commanded the Prophet ﷺ to migrate (Hijrah) to Madinah. This event marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar. In Madinah, the Prophet ﷺ established the first Islamic community based on justice, brotherhood, and the worship of Allah. Over the next 10 years, Islam spread across Arabia. The Prophet ﷺ faced many battles but always sought peace when possible. He forgave his enemies when he conquered Makkah in 630 CE. His final sermon (Khutbat al-Wada) summarized his teachings: worship Allah, pray, fast, give charity, perform Hajj, treat women kindly, and hold fast to the Quran. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ passed away in 632 CE at the age of 63. He is the final prophet — there will be no prophet after him. His message, the Quran, is preserved unchanged, and his Sunnah (example) guides Muslims until today.
