Prophet Adam (AS) - The First Human
Learn about the first human and prophet, his creation, and the importance of repentance.
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to: - Tell the story of Prophet Adam (AS) - Understand that Allah created Adam from clay - Know that Allah forgives those who repent - Learn why arrogance is dangerous (from Iblis)
Allah created Adam (peace be upon him) from clay. After shaping him, Allah breathed life into him. Allah taught Adam the names of all things, something even the angels could not do. Allah commanded all the angels to prostrate to Adam as a sign of respect. All the angels prostrated, but Iblis (Shaytan) refused. He was arrogant and said he was better than Adam because he was made from fire while Adam was made from clay. Because of his arrogance, Allah removed Iblis from His mercy. Adam and his wife Hawwa (Eve) lived in Paradise. Allah allowed them to eat from any tree except one. But Shaytan whispered to them and tricked them into eating from the forbidden tree. When they realized their mistake, they felt ashamed. Adam repented to Allah with sincere hearts. Allah, the Most Merciful, forgave them. But He sent them down to Earth, where Adam became the first prophet and the father of all humanity. This story teaches us that everyone makes mistakes, but Allah loves those who say sorry and repent.
